November Friday Jumps Preview – Fri 27th November 2020

An excellent day’s racing is expected here at Doncaster on Friday 27th November. There are 7 competitive races starting with an intriguing Handicap Chase over 2 miles at 11:55am. We've pulled together some insider insights in association with Tote to give you a preview of the day's races.

The going, as of Wednesday, is GOOD with dry weather expected.

11:55am – 2m Handicap Chase

Dr Richard Newland’s Yccs Portocervo finished third, half a length behind Carolines Charm in second at Kempton 3 weeks ago and is 4lb better in the weights for this rematch and looks set to reverse those placings. Theflyingportrait will be suited by the good going after finishing down the field on softer ground at Aintree last time and should improve. If James Ewart’s Lake Takapuna can return to his form in September’s win at Kelso he should go close but is best watched after finishing eighth of eight at Musselburgh earlier this month.

12:25pm – 2m5f Novices’ Hurdle

Paul Nicholls’s Flash Collonges, who won on debut at Exeter earlier this month, will come on for the run and should go close here. Gosheven was well fancied for Philip Hobbs when third of ten at Ludlow in January and comes here after a break. Kim Bailey’s Bobhopeornohope won at Exeter last time and another big run can be expected.

12:55pm – 3m Handicap Hurdle

A highly competitive Handicap Hurdle with plenty of runners in with a chance. Catchmeifyoucan comes here on the back of a comfortable win at Market Rasen last week and looks capable of another win. Philip Kirby’s course and distance winner Dubh Des Champs ran well when third at Newcastle last time out. The Black Squirrel is in good form, winning under similar conditions at Newcastle a fortnight ago, while Ah Well ran well in defeat at Southwell and could improve with the step up in trip.

1:25pm – 2m3f Handicap Chase

Dr Sanderson won well for Paul Nicholls at Plumpton last month and should have conditions to suit. Brian Ellison’s Nietzsche has been running well but hasn’t managed to get his head in front for 18 months, while the dry weather will suit Alan King’s The Unit, who returned after a break when fourth at Wetherby in October. A big run can be expected from Donald McCain’s course and distance winner Pogue, who came a decent second at Bangor in September on his season debut.

2:00pm – 2m3f Handicap Hurdle

Jessica Rabbit could finally break her duck for Graeme McPherson this afternoon, she has had a couple of decent second places in similar races this season and the recent short break should see her run well. Top weight Hello Bob won well at Uttoxeter in August and with further improvement expected could go close despite the rise in the weights. Neil Mulholland’s Molliana won in the soft at Chepstow last time and would probably like to see some rain.

2:35pm – 3m Novices’ Handicap Chase

Champagne Noir stayed on well to take second after a mistake 3 from home for Charlie Longsdon at Kempton earlier this month and should make amends this afternoon. Despite running well Tim Vaughan’s Jean Genie hasn’t managed to get his head in front on the line and another good run can be expected. Of the rest, Point-To-Point winner The Triple Pillar and course winner Empire De Maulde could post good runs.

3:10pm – 2m National Hunt Flat

Paul Nicholls has a 32% strike rate in Bumpers this season and sends Great Gable for his debut today. Emma Lavelle’s San Giovanni faded to finish fifth at Ascot last time but should improve for the run. Schalke kept on well to finish fourth at Kelso earlier this month and could run in to the places.
