50 Days until the Betfred St Leger Festival as new TV campaign celebrates 250 years of 'A Reyt Good Day Out'
With just 50 days to go until the iconic Betfred St Leger Festival at Doncaster Racecourse, a bold new television advertising campaign celebrating 250 years of sporting history has launched.
Centred around the theme of: ‘A Reyt Good Day Out. Since 1776.’, the new campaign will be broadcast across TV, radio and digital and celebrates not only 250 years of world-class racing but also the unforgettable moments and Yorkshire humour that make the Betfred St Leger Festival a standout event for generations of racegoers in the local area and beyond.
Written and produced by sponsorship agency 1986, the tagline for this year’s milestone event embraces the heritage and tradition of the famous Betfred St Leger Festival with a modern spin and nod to Yorkshire culture. The race’s significance over its 250-year history remains unchanged, but the experience today is a modern celebration full of fun, festival vibes and entertainment. The new advert looks to celebrate this unique experience in Yorkshire.
Thousands of visitors attend across four days of prestigious racing and excellent entertainment each year. With this year being a significant milestone in the races’ history, the Betfred St Leger Festival will be a celebration not to be missed.
Kicking off the celebrations on Thursday 10 September is the stand-out Betfred Ladies Day, with the coveted Style Awards, with more than £2,000 of prizes up for grabs for the most stylish racegoer, and a high-energy DJ set from Mark Wright.
Betfred Gents Day on Friday 11 September sees the return of the Betfred Doncaster Cup, the oldest race still run under official rules, as well as Britain’s only charity race for former professional jockeys, the Betfred Leger Legends Stakes, raising money for the Injured Jockeys Fund.
The biggest day of the week, Saturday 12 September, will be a truly historic event as it marks the 250th anniversary of the first running of the Betfred St Leger Stakes. All eyes in racing will turn to Doncaster to witness history in the making, whilst, off the track, the event will be topped off with a performance by Capital Breakfast host DJ Jordan North. The Festival culminates on Sunday 13th September with Betfred Sunday Funday.
Rachel Harwood, executive director at Doncaster Racecourse, said: “With just 50 days to go, the countdown is on for the 250th anniversary of the Betfred St Leger Festival.
“Adding to the excitement is the launch of our new advert and campaign for this year, which celebrates and respects the 250 years of world-class racing, but in a way that doesn’t take itself too seriously and includes a nod to Yorkshire culture.
“The advert tells the story that, whilst the race has remained largely unchanged for 250 years, the experience around it has evolved into something much bigger: a uniquely Donny occasion where world-class sport meets an absolute belter of a day out. Or, ‘A Reyt Good Day Out. Since 1776’ as they’d say in Yorkshire!
“People may arrive for different reasons or experiences, but they all leave saying the same thing: “That was a reyt good day out” and this year’s 250th running of our famous race will be one day out you don’t want to miss.”
Visitors can experience the full four days of the festival with a 4-Day Leger Festival Pass. For more information and to secure tickets, visit https://www.doncaster-racecourse.co.uk/racing-highlights/st-leger-festival
