Simon Crisford’s A’ali (6-4) will head to the Breeders’ Cup next after an impressive win in the Group 2 Wainwright Flying Childers Stakes.

Crisford’s colt was last seen finishing fifth in the Prix Morny but a return to five furlongs and fast ground saw him right back to his best form.

Wheels On Fire quickly jumped out of the gates with Frankie Dettori and A’ali settling in behind the leader with Flaming Princess for company.

However, as they entered the final furlong A’ali showed a smart turn of foot to scamper clear in the closing stages to record a comfortable win.

Dream Shot (20-1) just got up for second with Wheels On Fire (12-1) in third.

Crisford said: “That was great, he really deserved that as he travelled superbly well and finished off nicely. He's already won a 'win and you're in' race into the Breeders' Cup over five furlongs at Santa Anita so that's where we'll go next.

"I think a sharp five in California will really suit him. He's done so well over five furlongs, he’s won the Norfolk and this race.

“He's got the change of pace which is his key moment of glory. He's an extremely easy horse to deal with, he's got a very good mind on him and his attitude is unquestionably excellent and he's very straightforward.

"Frankie is unbeaten on him and loves him. He can't wait to get to California!"
