The final day of the Betfred St Leger Festival, Leger Legends Sunday Funday, sees a competitive field of 19 go to post for the £85,000 Japan Racing Association Sceptre Fillies’ Stakes, run over 7f, headed by Irish raider Queen Of Mougins.

The ex-Ralph Beckett trained filly made a winning stable debut in fine style for Adrian Murray in a handicap at the Curragh and was placed in this race last year. The jockey booking of Jamie Spencer also catches the eye.

The Ollie Sangster-trained Shuwari returned to winning ways in the Prix de la Cochere (Listed) at Longchamp last time. She would appreciate any rain in the forecast this weekend.

Karl Burke is enjoying a fine time of things at the moment, and his Bright Thunder is usually a consistent sort in this grade but posted a lesser effort when only fifth in the Atlanta Stakes (G3) recently.

Silvestre De Sousa won this contest back in 2021 aboard Just Beautiful and he rides Jabaara for Roger Varian who himself is a two-time winning trainer of this race.

Lou Lou’s Gift posted her best effort for some time when getting up to win by a head at Newbury. Tom Marquand retains his partnership with the Lope De Vega filly, who is owned by renowned owner/breeder Anthony Oppenheimer.

Spiritual showed how dangerous can be when given an easy lead when running away with the Princess Elizabeth Stakes (G3) earlier in the season. She has posted two below-par performances since though, and needs to show more in a deep contest.

17 runners go to post for the 1m IPM Group Leger Legends Classified Stakes. Some of the best former jockeys will be taking part in this year’s contest including Derby winning jockey Adam Kirby. The line-up for 2025 includes: Adam Kirby, Sammy Jo Bell, Franny Norton, Jimmy Quinn and Alan Johns.
