Doncaster Racecourse is set to transform into a full-throttle alpine playground this December, as it launches a brand-new Christmas experience, replacing its long-running Christmas Live event after 14 years.

The new concept marks a significant shift for one of Doncaster’s best-known festive events, with the introduction of an immersive Après Village designed to offer an energetic, more experience-led Christmas celebration for groups and businesses across the region.

The move reflects evolving expectations around Christmas parties, with a growing appetite for events that feel more interactive, flexible and social, while still delivering the scale and atmosphere the racecourse is known for.

Step inside the fully covered Après Village and guests will be transported into a winter-inspired environment, complete with timber chalets, twinkling lights, and a warm festive mood from the moment they arrive.

At the heart of the experience is an Après inspired main stage, bringing together DJs, dancers, saxophonists and roaming performers, with a catwalk and side stages ensuring the action flows throughout the space. The result is a high-energy, immersive party where guests are part of the experience, rather than simply observing it.

Around the village, a range of indoor activities and spaces have been designed to offer something for everyone. Alpine bars will serve cocktails, spiced liqueurs and beers, while guests can take a break from the dancefloor in an outdoor tipi lounge complete with fire pits and marshmallow toasting.

For those looking for interactive entertainment, the experience includes karaoke booths, curling lanes, and an indoor roller rink, alongside a Festive Express train that winds its way through the venue’s Christmas scenery.

Guests can also step into “The Ski Shop” photo experience, designed for group photos and themed moments, adding a playful, social element to the event.

Doncaster Racecourse is offering two dining options on set dates of its Christmas events diary, allowing guests to choose between a traditional three-course meal or festive street food, depending on their preferred experience. Equally, the course will also, for the first time, be offering a daytime option on Friday, 18th December, again expanding the options for Christmas events.

At the top end of the offering, a VIP area provides exclusive seating, elevated views of the main stage, and premium touches including bottomless champagne service.

Speaking about the new direction, Clare Marsden, Regional Event Sales Manager, Arena Racing Company, said: “Christmas Live has been a hugely successful part of Doncaster’s

festive calendar for many years, but we felt it was the right time to evolve the experience and offer something new.

“This year’s Après Village is about creating a more immersive, energetic environment where guests can celebrate in a way that feels fresh and different, while still delivering a fantastic Christmas party experience.”

The new concept reflects a broader trend towards more experiential, activity-led events, where guests can enjoy a mix of entertainment, social spaces and interactive elements throughout the evening.

The Après Village is designed to appeal to both shared Christmas party groups and private corporate bookings, offering flexibility for businesses and groups looking to celebrate in a more tailored way. An early bird booking discount is available if booked before Easter Monday.

With no slopes, no snow and no skis required, the focus is firmly on creating the ultimate Christmas atmosphere and a memorable experience for everyone.

Doncaster Racecourse’s new Christmas offering invites guests to turn up, let loose, and make the experience their own, bringing a bold new chapter to one of the city’s most recognisable festive traditions.
