2026 marks a huge milestone in British racing history, the 250th anniversary of the first running of the Betfred St Leger Stakes, which first took place all the way back in 1776.

The Betfred St Leger Stakes is the third and final leg of the coveted British Triple Crown, following the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and the Epsom Derby. Run over 1 mile, 6 furlongs, and 115 yards, this iconic race is a true test of class and stamina for the finest three-year-old colts and fillies in British racing.

Our talented Artist in Residence, Rebecca Wright, will capture the atmosphere, excitement and spectacle of the world’s oldest Classic through a stunning live painting on Betfred St Leger Day.
Inspired by the action and energy of the day, Rebecca will bring the 250th anniversary of the Betfred St Leger to life on canvas, creating a truly unique piece of artwork. The painting will also be captured and broadcast by ITV Racing, giving viewers at home a glimpse of this special, once-in-a-lifetime artwork.

The dress code for the Premier Enclosure is jacket for gentlemen with tie optional and smart attire for ladies. Jeans and sportswear are not permitted in this area. We would also request that children dress smartly when joining us in the Premier Enclosure.
