Why Horseracing?

• Capital expenditure within the industry over the last four years was £421m - the highest expenditure of any sport after football
• Four of the eight best attended sporting events in 2005 were race meetings
• 6 million people went racing in 2005 - second only to football
• There was around 2,400 hours of free-to-air and Pay-TV coverage of racing in 2005 (excluding ATR and Racing UK).
• Racing accounted for 13% of total terrestrial sports broadcast hours in 2005.
• Over 50% of female and young adult racegoers attend Flat Racing only (TNS Sport, December 2006)

"Racing is enjoying a period of sustained prosperity, with many exciting opportunities to pursue in the coming years." Deloitte
