Annual Badge Holder: Member Zone
What is the Annual Members Committee?
The Doncaster racecourse annual members committee was originally
formed 40 years ago when the previous 'new stand' was
completed. Its main aim is to look after the annual members
interests at the racecourse. The committee consists of up to 12
annual members.
Who are we?
Howard Wright - President
Steve Ibbotson - Chairman
Ralph Roberts - Secretary
Pamela Bower - Treasurer
Trevor Shaw
Ben Scherer
Garry Hanson
Ben Pemberton
Mick Gibson
Clas Wraith
Jeff Ennis
Robert Bower
What do we do?
Every 2-3 months the committee meet with the racecourse
management to discuss any issues, problems or potential
improvements that could be made to the annual member's
facilities. This is feedback that has been raised with the
committee by annual members as well as the committees own thoughts
and suggestions. Annually in December an AGM is held to discuss the
year's progress and developments and to elect committee
members. The minutes to the meetings can be found on the links
below and also on the notice board in the reference point bar.
What have we achieved?
Significant progress has been made by the both the committee and racecourse management over the last 18 months and together the following improvements have been made.
- Free Race cards to all annual members
- Use of Premier Suite for all national hunt meetings and midweek flat meetings excluding Leger week
- Improvements to reciprocal days
- Free guest admission tickets
- Children allowed back into the Annual members bar
- Glass for people wishing to drink inside the annual members bar
- Hot food in the reference point bar.
- A New annual members restaurant facility in the St Leger Stand
- Discounted hospitality charges for annual members
- No combined enclosures for the current national hunt season
- Annual members lawn remodelled to triple the size
- Canopies and heaters installed to the lawn
- Glass now allowed on the lawn (subject to
availability)
- Memberzone webpage on the racecourse website
- Increase in quality and quantity of reciprocal days including York and return of Curragh
- Successful first away day trip to Newcastle with more planned for 2012
What are the aims of the Annual Members committee over the coming season?
The main aims for the committee for the coming year are to improve the awareness of the committee and also the relationship it has with the annual members and to try and find a solution to the vastly inferior annual members bar on the ground floor of the St Leger Stand.
