Tattoo Jam August 2010 - Attempts Guiness Book of World Records

Release Dated 10/05/10 - For Immediate Release

Tattoo Jam

HUNDREDS of the world's foremost tattoo artists and thousands of fans are set to descend on Doncaster.

Tattoo Jam, the UK's biggest tattoo convention*, has announced its line-up of more than 300 of the planet's best skin art specialists including Paul Booth, Brandon Bond and Louis Molloy, the man behind David Beckham's tattoos.

Shelley Curry, the event's organiser, said: "We have searched the corners of the globe to find the very best and most sought after body art professionals, and we are very excited by this awesome line-up. Many of our overseas artists have not worked a convention in the UK for years and for a good number it's their first time over here.

"It is undoubtedly a great coup being able to attract renowned world-famous tattoo artists such as Paul Booth, Louis and Brandon Bond, which makes Tattoo Jam the UK's best event of its kind."

Tattoo Jam, to be held at Doncaster Racecourse, begins on August 6 with a trade day for artists, followed by the Tattoo Master's Ball and Tattoo Jam Awards ceremony in the evening. The following two days are open to the public who can consult with and be tattooed by the best of the best in one of the tattoo booths specially set up for the event. There is also a battle of the bands competition, with 30 bands playing live on the soundstage which this year will be built outside, adjacent to the racecourse grandstand, so guests can enjoy great music.

There will also be a diversity of vendors and traders at the event, selling everything from shoes and belts to jewellery and clothing.

Tattoo Jam is the UK's biggest tattoo show, featuring more than 300 working tattoo artists, live music, seminars & workshops, an art gallery, the Tattoo Masters' Ball and Awards. It has been running annually for three years and was voted the best tattoo event in 2009 by BigTattooPlanet.com.

The organisers have scoured the globe to seek out and attract artists who cater for every style and taste including a selection of artists who tattoo traditionally by hand using basic instruments rather than a tattoo machine now used by the vast majority or modern tattooists.

Shelley added: "Because of our commitment and proven track record within the tattoo industry, Tattoo Jam has grown rapidly in size and reputation as one of the best organised tattoo events in the world. This year we are expecting more than 10,000 people over the course of the weekend."

Tattoo Jam

The event, now in its third year, was created and is run by Jazz Publishing which publishes Britain's best selling tattoo magazine Skin Deep, together with Skin Shots and Tattoo Master magazines. The company also runs Tattoo Freeze, a brand new style of convention for the whole family combining tattooing with automotive art and sports in Telford every January www.tattoofreeze.com

* Tattoo Jam is the UK's biggest tattoo show when compared by the number of working tattoo artists - the event will have more than 300 each day of the event.

About Louis Molloy: He is a Manchester-based tattoo artist famed for his work on David Beckham - including the angel adorning his back, and the 'Man of Sorrows' tattoo on his side which was revealed in January this year as a tribute to his late grandfather. Molloy has also completed tattoos on other celebrities including the Spice Girls' Mel B and Victoria Beckham, Ronan Keating and boxer Ricky Hatton. Louis rarely works conventions any longer, having appeared at just three in the past six years.

About Paul Booth: Born in 1968, Booth is widely considered a master of the art of tattooing and is renowned for his work with celebrities and particularly rock bands including Slipknot, Mudvayne, Slayer, Pantera, Soulfly and Sepultura. He was an entrepreneur from a young age and at 15 started a sign-making shop. Booth has been tattooing for over 20 years.

About Brandon Bond: Considered one of the most influential tattoo artists alive, his tireless focus in tattooing is only rivalled by his other business endeavours - publishing books, creating award winning films, fundraising for a range of charities, and teaching his tattooing techniques. His artwork has been featured in over 500 international tattoo arts publications. He opened his first studio, ALL OR NOTHING Tattoo and Body Piercing, in 2004. He has a string of industry awards dating back as far as 1998 including Artist of the Year at the South Florida Tattoo Convention in 2005 and again at the North Carolina Tattoo Convention a year later. Bond is now tattooing exclusively by appointment only in two studios in northwest Atlanta, his public studio ALL OR NOTHING, and his private VIP studio A.N.T.I. Art Elite (featuring two cinemas, Jacuzzi and an art gallery), and he now has around a year's waiting list.
