MARK SPINCER OF DONCASTER RACECOURSE CONGRATULATES PAUL HANAGAN ON BECOMING CHAMPION JOCKEY AT THE END OF A THRILLING FLAT SEASON

Having led the Jockey's Championship from the very first day of the 2010 flat racing campaign when Doncaster Racecourse held the season's curtain raiser in March, Paul Hanagan returned to Doncaster at the weekend to clinch the 2010 Champion Jockey title as the prestigious Town Moor course played host to the finale of a thrilling season.

Mark Spincer, managing director of Doncaster Racecourse, said: "Paul Hanagan's achievement in becoming only the second Northern Champion Jockey in more than a century is fantastic and richly deserved.

"Richard Hughes was also magnificent and made the title fight a truly gripping contest with his spate of wins in recent weeks.

"Doncaster Racecourse was delighted to be able to play host to such an exciting sporting event and we are now greatly looking forward to the start of our National Hunt season on 10 December when we hope another star jockey AP McCoy will be here to continue the defence of his champion jockey title for the 16th year on the trot."
